Home Health and Energy Examination
A home is a system of interactive parts made up the following components:
The Occupants - Structure and Envelope - Equipment and Systems.
The Home Health and Energy examination is designed to evaluate those components for the purpose of maximizing the occupants health and safety, maintaining the buildings integrity, and optimizing the performance of the equipment and systems for reducing operating costs.
The Occupants
Our examination starts off with an interview with the occupant. A list of questions will be asked during this procedure that will enable our examiner to acknowledge any personal concerns, or to help identify any existing problems. It is very important to educate our customer as well. The occupant must understand the building and how all the systems interact with each other. We do this by providing handouts during the examination, discussing the findings and the resolutions, and making information available through our continued online support.
Structure and Envelope
The structure and envelope examination utilizes a proven system that is used throughout the country and is endorsed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE). This system is called Home Seal With Energy Star®, which takes a holistic approach in examining the building envelope.
The following tasks identify the specific examinations that are performed:
Perform air leakage test with a blower door to determine air sealing possibilities and
also location of holes within the building envelope
Visual inspect insulation placement and values
Examine attic ventilation strategies
Examine the building exhaust ventilation methods
Visually inspect for moisture conditions and surface water draining strategies
Visually inspect the architectural components of the building

Health & Energy Examination:
Check all of the fuels deliver system components for pressure leaks.
Examine the Combustion Appliance Zones (CAZ)s for any hazardous conditions that may exist, and any interaction by other combustion equipment or building pressure changes.
Examine the furnace cabinet and exposed ductwork for air leaks or disconnects
Check alert devices for proper installation and operation (Smoke CO Alarms)
Electricity
Check electrical distribution methods and present exposed wire condition
Examine refrigerator seal and previous maintenance practices
Determine fluorescent light strategies
Water
Examine toilet for water leaks
Determine water saving strategies

Note: All combustion appliances are evaluated for adequate combustion air so that the device may complete the combustion process.
Our company uses Bacharach Professional Diagnostic Testing Equipment. The equipment analyzes the flue gases during the combustion process. This method of testing provides our customers printed documentation that reveals facts (not someones opinion) of how well the equipment is performing and operating in your home.
